Bio:

Matthew Suntup is a Senior Engineer at Advanced Navigation, where he drives the deployment and integration of cutting-edge inertial navigation systems across industries spanning mining, aerospace, and space exploration. His expertise is central to enabling autonomy in GNSS-denied environments, particularly in mining, where Advanced Navigation’s technology underpins critical applications such as underground haulage and the precise automation of drilling rigs – delivering step-change improvements in safety and operational efficiency.

With a background in robotics and software engineering, Matthew previously contributed to planetary rover mobility research at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory. His work earned him recognition at the Australian Space Awards, where he was honoured with the Excellence Award for advancing Australia’s space and technology capabilities.

Throughout his career, Matthew has worked at the frontier of autonomy for extreme environments – from subsea to subterranean mine sites and ultimately the Moon.
