Bio:

Michael currently consults on future technology directions in business with a recent focus on Artificial Intelligence technologies, its applications and associated infrastructure.   He retired from Intel Corporation as its Chief Technology Officer for the Client Division, at that time the largest division of Intel. Michael’s career spans both academic and industry positions, mostly in industry. This includes senior leadership roles in Intel, Sun, and AT&T Bell Laboratories. At Intel, Michael was the Chief Technical Officer in Intel’s Client Products Division, responsible for addressing customer concerns and finding solutions.  At AT&T he was the architect for the BellMac 32 processor, now an IEEE Milestone, and leading other projects. He held teaching and research positions at Princeton University and the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. Michael has multiple patents.

Michael, an IEEE Life Fellow, has many years of engaging in the IEEE. He is an IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (IES) Senior AdCom (board) member, Past President of the IEEE Technology and Engineering Management Society (TEMS), Vice President of Industry and Standards for Consumer Technologies, and member of the Computer Society (CTSoc). Michael conceived and chaired the IEEE World Technology Summit, a program to grow industry engagement in IEEE and an NIC initiative. The 2024 Sumit is focused on infrastructure needed for AI. Michael experience in IEEE has mainly been focused on how to grow value of IEEE to industry. Michael is also a member of the Eta Kappa Nu Honor Society of the IEEE.
