Mihai Caleap

Dr Mihai Caleap is the founder and CEO of Calyo, a UK deep-tech SME building sensing and AI-fusion for autonomous mobility, robotics, freight, warehousing and logistics, rail safety and defence. He combines academic and entrepreneurial experience, translating fundamental research into deployable deep-tech systems and contributing to multiple patents in sensing and cutting-edge technologies. His work has been published in high-impact physics and multidisciplinary journals, including Applied Physics Letters, New Journal of Physics, Physical Review Letters, PNAS and Nature Communications.

He holds degrees in Fine Arts, Mathematics & Physics and Engineering Physics, and completed a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Bordeaux. As CEO, he leads development of practical, low-power 3-D ultrasound perception and edge AI sensor fusion to strengthen perception reliability and system integration across autonomous platforms.
