Catalysts of Sensor Innovation
Session details:
Semiconductor sensors are foundational to the emergence of physical AI because they enable machines to perceive and interact with the real world. Unlike traditional software-based AI that operates primarily on digital data, physical AI systems—such as robots, autonomous vehicles, industrial automation platforms, and smart infrastructure—must continuously interpret dynamic physical environments. Semiconductor sensors convert real-world phenomena, including light, motion, pressure, temperature, sound, and chemical signature, into precise electrical signals that AI systems can analyze in real time.
These sensors serve as the “sensory organs” of physical AI, providing the high-resolution, low-latency data required for perception, situational awareness, and decision-making. Without semiconductor sensors, physical AI would lack the real-world awareness necessary for safe, autonomous operation, making them a critical bridge between digital intelligence and the physical environment.
