Photonics is a multi-physics science of light. It combines light sources, light detectors, integrated (or free space) optical paths, optical elements and control electronics to enable multiple sensing solutions in medical, industrial, automotive and datacom application fields. This presentation explores several enabling integrated CMOS manufacturing technologies including photodetectors, optical filters and 3D integration capabilities through an integrated photonics sensing solution case study from an open foundry perspective.
