New Architecture for SWaP-C: Thermal Imager for Safety and Security

Wed, May 6 | 03:30 PM - 03:55 PM

Session details:

For civil, defense, automotive, and industrial markets, a camera that can “see” through night, fog, rain, and glare is considered the holy grail. In defense, high-fidelity, lightweight, low-power, and compact night vision (NV) solutions are essential for NV goggles and drones, representing an entirely new class of products. Similarly, NV solutions are critical for the automotive sector. Pedestrian fatalities have increased by 77% over the past decade, with 76% of incidents occurring at night. In response, the US NHTSA has mandated stringent safety standards requiring high-performance night vision solutions in all new vehicles by 2029. Despite pioneering NV technology two decades ago, US, and EU suppliers have struggled to innovate aggressively, creating a window of opportunity for threats from Chinese competitors. The presenter will introduce a novel thermal imager that addresses these challenges with 4X improved resolution, 10X lower power and low-cost manufacturing.
